Cashcraft Explains Uniqueness of Bedrock Fund
Stories by Uchenna Kalu
Investors wishing to diversify their portfolio and make maximum returns on their investment, now have the opportunity to do so with the Cashcraft Asset Management Limited Anchor Fund and Bedrock Fund that opened last week.
Mr.Deolu Ireyomi, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, who made this known in a chat with BusinessWorld in Lagos last week, stated that investors can choose from any of the fund depending on their investment plan.
“We have two funds that we are launching simultaneously. There is the Bedrock Fund and there is the Anchor Fund.
The Bedrock Fund is purely an equity fund that will invest in top capitalised stocks in the Nigerian Stock Exchange. That is the Bedrock Fund. We call it Bedrock Fund because it will invest only in those stocks that are considered the bedrock of the market. Now we have the Anchor Fund.
The Anchor fund is a hybrid fund that would invest in property, in equity as well as in debt instruments. We call it the anchor fund because it is anchored on property. That truly is the basic summary of the two funds” he said.
Ireyomi said its investment objective is to maximize returns to investors through optimal combination of balanced mixture of securities that assure safety, income and long term capital appreciation.
“The two funds have different offerings catering to different people. If you are interested in safety, if your risk profile is such that you want safety first, you are not really interested in aggressively pursuing growth then the Bedrock Fund would be effectively useful to you.
Retirees, people who are above 50 who have gone beyond the age where they should gamble, where they should take a lot of risk, they are those to whom the Bedrock Fund should be very good.
But for the younger generation who are able to invest for a much longer time horizon, the Anchor fund would be better. The whole idea is to give an opportunity for different risk profiles to be served by the two funds” he said.
